![]() ![]() ![]() It’s the difference between turning left and walking forward and than turning back right and strafing left in a FPS. You’ll also be able to bind different thrust directions for slight corrections to your flight, versus just using the throttle, pitch, roll and yaw to correct direction. It gives you infinitely more control of your ships maneuverability. This will help you get better at it on your own and eventually you won’t need the auto assist anymore.Īlso, if you stick around after this, I recommend purchasing a HOTAS. The better you get at maneuvering in normal space, start doing more of the docking process yourself before zeroing your throttle. Two, on rare occasions the docking computer will glitch and run you into a wall or not drive you into the station or, on one occasion as an Asteroid station, it fly me 75km away from the station before I realized what was happening and had to fly back. One, it will help you learn how to line up your ship for the pad. Pay attention to to docking procedures as the computer handles the maneuvers, for two reasons. Once you have it equipped, all you have to do is request docking permission within 7.5km of the station, await approval, and zero throttle. They should have docking computer modules. Just remember to keep your nose pointed at the number while your over the landing pad. It’s an outpost so it’s outdoor docking, and might make it easier for you to dock. If all else fails get a docking computer but you immediately lose one slot which can be limiting in a small ship so try what I suggested above. You have to land in the middle of the circle so just tap away at the thrusters till you're close then tap the thruster down till you make contact. So you have to see the rear of your ship in the hud to land correctly. If your ship in the hud isn't facing away from you you're the wrong way round. As you get close to the pad your hud should show the landing pad and your ship. Just tap forward and backwards or left and right. It's a good idea to have forward/reverse/left/right thrusters mapped so you don't have to finesse the throttle. You HAVE to deploy your landing gear to dock. Note on some platforms the pads can be stacked back to back so the circle could be misleading (always check the pad you're at has the number assigned to you). When you're above the correct pad the dot should be solid at the very bottom of the compass circle. The small circle with a dot in it is a compass, it points to your next target, and when docking that target is the pad assigned to you. When you request docking you're assigned a number, that's the ONLY pad you can legally land on. I'm sure this is already covered but here goes. Post/comment not appearing?
